People take the plunge in Greenbrier County for a good cause

GREENBRIER COUNTY -

On Saturday hundreds of brave souls in Greenbrier County took a running leap into some icy cold waters for the 10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge.

People from all over came to dive into Anthony Creek in the Monongahela National Forest at Blue Bend. And it's all for a good cause too. The plunge raised funds for the Greenbrier County Child and Youth Advocacy Center.

"We're freezin' for a reason and the reason is to stop child abuse. The child youth and advocacy center is what this event is to benefit. Both counselors and child abuse victims work to have the perpetrators punished by the law," said event organizer Naomi Cohen.

Last year, the club raised over $13,000 for the center and more than 100 plungers went into the water.
