West Virginia State Police have arrested and charged Margel Tenney, 57, of Rock Cave, with two counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian. 

Troopers received a statement from a 14-year-old juvenile victim stating that Tenney cornered her in his bedroom and sexually assaulted her.

State Police arrested Tenney on Wednesday morning near mile marker 104 on Interstate 79.  Tenney was believed to have fled the area on Tuesday after being interviewed by authorities for sexual abuse allegations. 

Tenney told State Police that he didn't remember sexually assaulting the girl.  He also said that he confessed to the lord and he doesn't need to confess to law enforcement.

Tenney was arraigned in Lewis County court Wednesday morning.  Tenney is being held in Central Regional Jail on $100,000 bail.

Tenney is facing additional charges in Upshur County.  His case will be heard in Upshur County.

 


West Virginia State Police tell 59News that Margel Tenney is in custody and the girls, Shaina and Grace Tenney are okay.

The two children have been found after an amber alert was issued on Tuesday, March 12 for a possible kidnapping.

Shaina Nicole Tenney, 16, and her seven-month-old baby, Grace Hope Tenney, were found near mile marker 104 on I-79.

Margel Tenney, Shaina Tenney's stepfather, was spotted by a State Trooper on his way to Charleston.

Margel Tenney was arrested and is being taken to the Weston detachment of the West Virginia State Police, where he is being questioned.

He will then be held in the Central Regional Jail.

AMBER ALERT UPDATE:

The 2003 tan Ford Taurus believed to be driven by 57-year-old Margel Tenney in the abduction of 16-year-old Shaina Nicole Tenney and 7-month-old Grace Hope Tenney may have been seen crossing into Ohio on Interstate 77 at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday night.  That is from the Amber Alert center.  

The suspect is being investigated for sexual abuse of the teenage girl.

Here is the situation as released by the West Virginia State Police:

Margel Tenney was the subject of a sexual abuse by parent or guardian on the above named date.  During an interview of another family member at the WVSP Buckhannon Detachment the Margel Tenney subject left the office and went to his residence in Kanawha Head, WV.  While there, Margel Tenney abducted his sixteen (16) year old step-daughter (Shaina Tenney) and Shaina's seven (7) month old daughter (Grace Hope Tenney). 

From that point, Mr. Tenney then traveled to Webster County and picked up a James Tenney.  Sometime after that, Mr. Tenney traveled with the three (3) passengers to a gas station in Belington and traded his red Dodge Dually for a 2003 Tan Ford Focus bearing WV registration 2LW179.  Mr. Tenney advised someone at this location he was then headed to the state of Texas.  A definite destination of travel is unknown at this time.

59 News has confirmed with State Police an infant was also taken.

Grace Hope Tenney. She's 7 months old with black hair and blue eyes. She's 2-feet 4-inches tall and about 19 pounds. She was last seen wearing a flowered sundress with a pink coat.

 


59News has just confirmed the West Virginia State Police have issued an Amber Alert regarding an abducted child in Rock Cave in Upshur County.

 The West Virginia State Police are looking for Shaina Nicole Tenney, a white female, 16, 5-feet 2-inches tall and 225 pounds with black hair and hazel eyes. The child was last seen at a home in Rock Cave area and is believed to be in extreme danger.

The child was last seen wearing black stretch pants, gray shirt with a black or gray hoodie and white tennis shoes.

Authorities advise the child was likely abducted by a family member by the name of Margel Tenney who is 5-feet 8-inches tall and 200 pounds with blue eyes and wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans with Redwing boots.

They may be traveling in a red 1999 Dodge dually extended cab truck with unknown registration. It was last seen traveling West Virginia Route 20 south near the Upshur and Webster County line.
