Concord Competes at Coastal Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -

The Concord University women's track and field team officially began its outdoor season Saturday at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Demi Kirk led the Mountain Lions with an 11th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Kirk finished the race in 11:06.63.
In distance events, Rachel Williams completed the 3,000-meter run in 11:16.38.

Demi Kirk gave strong efforts in both the 400-meter dash and the 100-meter dash, placing 21st (1:00.45) and 27th (13.11 seconds) respectively.

Ashleigh Taylor and Maya Ihejirika led Concord in field competition. Taylor placed 17th in the high jump with a clearance of 1.55 meters while Ihejirika finished 19th in the triple jump at 9.68 meters.

Other top competitors for Concord Saturday included Cheyenne Nicely (3,000-meters / 26th – 11:38.38) and Tabitha Whited (1,500-meter run / 29th – 5:06.88).

Concord returns to action March 16 at Coastal Carolina's Shamrock Invitational.
