Becca Gleason Named WVIAC Player of the Week

For the second time this season, Concord University softball standout Becca Gleason has been named the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Gleason, a senior from La Plata, Md., led Concord to a 6-2 record at the National Collegiate Softball Invitational last week. In eight games, Gleason hit a scorching .480 (12-for-25) with 11 runs scored, four RBI and four stolen bases. She registered five extra-base hits off of one double and four triples in addition to totaling a .519 on-base percentage and a .840 slugging percentage.

Gleason, who hit safely in six of the eight contests, belted a Concord record three triples against Cairn.

For the season, Gleason leads Concord in batting average (.468), runs scored (21), triples (4), on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.677). She also ranks second in with 29 hits and six stolen bases.

Concord (11-10) will carry a five-game winning streak into a doubleheader at Lees-McRae 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
