TAZEWELL -

59News has confirmed with officials in Tazewell County that the preliminary hearing for Christopher Looney has been moved to Wednesday, July 31.

Deputies arrested Looney in February for the murder of his parents at Pizza Plus in Claypool Hill in March of 2009.

After a month in jail, a Virginia man will appear in court today.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Christopher Looney, 32, of Tazewell County.  He was arrested in February in connection to the death of his parents, Valerie and Harvey Looney.  They were murdered at the Pizza Plus location in Claypool Hill in March of 2009.  It took investigators nearly four years to make an arrest in the case.  When they made the arrest, Tazewell County Sheriff's deputies said they had never given up on solving the murders.

Christopher Looney faces two counts of capital murder.  In Virginia, those charges can carry the death penalty.  Looney's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
