Agriculture Dept. begins efforts to control flies around WV rivers

Posted: Updated:

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture began an annual effort to control the population of Black Flies around the rivers in southern West Virginia on Wednesday, April 3.

Aerial treatments began at 8:30 a.m. and lasted through 6:30 p.m. as long as the weather holds out.  The biological suppression is done from the air.  It is being done along New, Bluestone and Greenbrier Rivers.

The treatments which began on Wednesday, are typically done periodically throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall months. They will wrap up sometime in October.
