59 News has learned that traffic is moving on Interstate 77 in West Virginia after major traffic delays.  That is according to Mercer County Emergency Services dispatchers.

Just minutes after lanes were reopened on Interstate 77 in Virginia, they were closed just a few miles north in West Virginia.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation reports that north and southbound lanes are closed around Mile Marker 15 due to an accident.  That is just north of the Athens exit.

59News will bring you more information as it becomes available.

Drivers are dealing with a major accident in the Southbound lanes of Interstate-77 on Thursday, April 4.

According to the 511virginia web site traffic is backed up for one to two miles between mile markers 64 and 67.  Both of the lanes of traffic that are headed south are closed because of an accident involving a tractor trailer.
