A wedge of cold air positioned over the 59 News viewing area is causing precipitation across the region to fall as a wintry mix of sleet, snow and rain.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Bland, Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe and Summers Counties through midnight for 2-4" of accumulating snow/sleet.
The area of low pressure bringing this wintry mess will usher in warmer air late tonight and early Friday causing the snow and sleet to change to plain rain by early Friday morning.
Watch for areas of ice and slick spots on roadways, especially on any untreated road surfaces.
Periods of heavy snow may also caused visibility to be reduced, so be sure to slow down and leave yourself extra time when traveling.
We will quickly see more spring-like weather returning late Friday and into the weekend with high temperatures warming into the 50s and 60s.
