Williams gets life in prison for murder

59News crews were at the plea hearing for Gavin Williams on Tuesday, April 9.  Williams pleaded guilty to first degree murder in front of Judge Blake.

The Judge immediately went to sentencing in the case.  Williams will serve a life sentence in prison, but was granted mercy.


A man accused of murder will enter a plea in Fayette County circuit court on Tuesday, April 9.


Gavin Williams, 25, of Scarbro is expected to plead guilty to charges of First Degree Murder in front of Judge Paul Blake.  The hearing was expected to begin at 9 a.m.   According to the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney's Office the judge plans to go right into sentencing after Williams makes his plea.  He could get life in prison.

Williams was accused of killing 63-year-old Darrell Jay Shrewsbury in his home on Wingrove Hill in Oak Hill.  That happened a little more than a year ago.
