How to Stop Truancy?

School officials and Raleigh County leaders are joining forces to slow truancy.

The United Way of Southern West Virginia has teamed up with Independence Middle School.  And the want your help too.  They are asking for community input and stories about what can be done to keep kids in school.

Margaret O'Niell with the United Way says kindergartners in Raleigh County have already missed 1-hundred days of school.

The meeting is taking place at the Crab Orchard Baptist Church today, April 11.  Refreshments start at 5:30 p.m. 11 and the discussion will begin at 6 p.m.
