Raleigh County prosecuting attorney Kristen Keller said that Brandy Smallwood will be staying in jail despite a request for a reduction in bond.   Smallwood was allegedly asking to stay with relatives, but the people she was asking to stay were not in court and could not be contacted.

A woman being held in the Southern Regional Jail on a bond for half of a million dollars was hoping to get that amount lowered.  Brandy Smallwood, 28, appeared before Judge John Hutchinson at around 2 p.m. on Monday, April 15.

Smallwood is accused of Child Neglect Resulting in Death.  The charge comes from an incident that happened in Fairdale on Friday, Feb. 8.  State Police who were at the scene of the crime said that a two-year-old boy was shaken and held out of a window.  The child was taken to a neighbor's house with severe injuries.  He died hours later an a local hospital.

Smallwood's husband, James Green, is accused of murder in this case.  The two were married just hours before the boy was killed.
