CHARLESTON (AP) -

West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell three-tenths of a percentage point to 7% in March.

WorkForce West Virginia said Tuesday the number of unemployed state residents decreased by 2,500 to 56,200.

The service-providing sector saw an employment gain of 300, while the goods-producing sector gained 100 jobs.

In the service-providing sector, there were job gains of 900 in trade, transportation and utilities, but losses of 500 jobs in educational and health services and 300 in leisure and hospitality.

Within the goods-producing sector, logging and mining gained 400 jobs, while manufacturing lost 200 and construction lost 100.

Nationally, the unemployment rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.6% in March.

West Virginia's unadjusted unemployment rate declined eight-tenths of a percentage point last month to 7.3%.
