Greenbrier County woman gives away historical site

Posted: Updated:

History changed hands on Tuesday after a woman who owns a historic site hands over the deed in Greenbrier County.

The site located just outside of Alderson is in the process of being restored.

Mrs. Rebecca Fleshman Lineberry is donating the Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion and two acres of land to the Greenbrier Historical Society.

The resort was built back in 1834.

It was home to some of the first healing mud baths in the country.

Mrs. Lineberry inherited the site from her father.

She said, "It has been a goal of mine for several years to restore it and it will be very pleasing to know that it will happen."

In March 2013 the historical society was awarded a grant to begin the restoration process.
