    A fire late Thursday night leaves a family in McDowell County homeless. Everyone was able to get out of the home in Raysal safely, but a friend of the family, who saved their dog, told us it was a very close call.

UPDATE:

Raleigh County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on Thursday, April 18.  Investigators were called to a house on Country Club Drive at around 6:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived they found Christopher Ward, 39, of Beaver.  He has been shot once. Ward was taken to an area hospital where he died.  Michael Stines, 46, of Beckley was also at the house on Country Club Road.   He was interviewed by investigators, and reportedly admitted to shooting Ward.

According to a release from the Sheriff's Department, there was a "physical altercation" between Stines and Ward.  No charges have been filed in the case, but the investigation is still open.  

 


Raleigh County Emergency Services reported a call of a shooting around 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18 on Country Club Road near Grandview.

 

Deputies with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department confirmed there was a male shot at the home and no one was in custody at the time.

The house was on lockdown and no one was allowed in the house or on the property.

A tow truck came around 9:45 p.m. Thursday to remove a white pick-up truck.

Deputies will continue to investigate the shooting.
