UPDATE: Shooting in Coal City Thursday, "suicide by cop"

59 News has learned new details about a Raleigh County shooting Thursday night. According to First Sergeant Michael Baylous, Raleigh County State Police were dispatched to a home in Coal City just before 7 Thursday night.

According to the 911 call, a woman was making threats of suicide and had a rifle in hand.  Sgt. Baylous said when troopers got on scene the woman was holding a rifle and on the phone with 911. 

He said suddenly, she dropped the phone and pointed the rifle at troopers. This is when a trooper open fired and hit the woman.

Sgt. Baylous said the woman has been identified at 47-year old Lisa Renee Miller and he is calling this "suicide by cop."

Emergency Dispatchers in Raleigh County confirm there was, in fact, a shooting Thursday, April 18 in the evening hours just before 7 p.m.

The shooting happened on Coal City Road.

Little is known at this hour.  The case is being handled by West Virginia State Police.
