Fire in Charleston leaves one dead

A person is dead following an early morning fire Sunday at Agsten Manor apartments at 715 Randolph Street on Charleston's West Side.

According to the Charleston Fire Department, the fire happened at a high rise, but was contained to one room.

Investigators say the medical examiner's office is working to identify the body.

The cause of the fire has not been released but firefighters tell 13 News they do believe it was an accident.

Some residents at the building said they smelled smoke. Others said firefighter's stopped by their apartments to check on them early Sunday morning.

The Charleston Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
