FAYETTEVILLE -

Police Officers from all across West Virginia are spending the week in Fayette County.  They are undergoing some intense training.

The county park in Fayetteville has been transformed into a training facility for police K-9 units.  Dogs and their handlers from a variety of departments are learning how to better do their jobs.  Beckley Police K-9 officer Cpl. Jamie Blume spoke with 59News about the opportunities the training provides.  He said they're getting a chance to learn from more experienced handlers and dogs on how to track down drugs and suspects.

"It's an ever evolving process, everyday something new.  You have to train the dog every single day," said Blume.

The training isn't over.  Officers will be getting more training throughout the week.
