Beckley Fire Department unveils new engine and retires another

The Beckley Fire Department unveiled its new and up to date fire engine.

The truck is expected to be in service for 20 plus years and costs around $800,000. The purchase was made possible by the fire levy and the purchase will have a positive impact on fire service.

"The cost of home owners insurance and business insurance should go down we are looking at long term doing that, and we are looking 20 years into the future and this truck should really meet the needs and growth of the city for the next 10-15 years," Billie Trump, Beckley Fire Chief said.

As the new equipment is put in service, an engine from 1963 was retired today and plans are being made to preserve this truck for historical value.
