Concord University raises money for Boston Marathon victim

MERCER COUNTY -

A local University's fraternity honored and raised money Saturday morning for the 8-year-old boy, Martin Richard, who died in the Boston Marathon bombings.

When Concord University's Sigma Tau Gamma realized Richard's father was also a part of that same fraternity, they took action to help. The fraternity put together a race and for every $10 they raised, they ran 1 mile collectively.

"We had a page people could sign to give encouraging words. It filled up really quick. We raised $500. So we ran 50 miles today," said Jareth Wieland.

100 percent of the proceeds they raised will be mailed to Richard's family next week.
