The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia has a new team mate as a Growth and Development Organizational partner.  The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group made the announcement Monday, April 29 as the PAWV's new partner.

The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia is a statewide organization in support of historic preservation in the Mountain State.  The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group, Inc was created in 2011 to raise money and plan a permanent memorial for the 29 men killed in the U.B.B. explosion.

The U.B.B. Memorial opened in Whitesville on July 27, 2012.  Since then, the group has launched a second project.  The Coal Heritage RiverWalk will be built near the U.B.B. Miners Memorial and will commemorate the area's coal heritage.  Construction on the riverfront park is set to start this summer.
