UPDATE: Josh May was locked inside of the residence after the incident and officers made a forced entry and arrested him without incident.

A relative tells 59News that May suffers from a history of mental issues following his father's suicide a few years ago. 59News also learned that 63-year-old Sandra May had a stroke over the winter and was staying with family but asked to move back in with her two sons.

May is being held in Southern Regional Jail on Monday Night without bond.

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder that took place in the morning hours of Monday, April 29.

Deputies were called to a home on Bowers Ridge Road in Saulsville at around 9 a.m. on Monday.  The call was a reported stabbing.  A relative spoke with 59News about the incident.  He said that Sandra May, 63, was stabbed in the throat with a steak knife.  The relative said the person who did it was her 30-year-old son Josh May.  Another son, Jeremiah, was apparently also in the house at the time.  59News was told that Jeremiah May attempted to save his mothers life, but was not successful.

Josh May was taken into custody by Sheriff's Deputies.  A Wyoming County prosecuting attorney told 59News that Josh May will be charged with First Degree Murder.  A release is expected from the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office later this afternoon. Watch for updates here and on 59News at 5 and 6.
