Qualities of a Marine: A visual narrative of recruit training

Posted: Updated:

Educators from West Virginia had a week at the Marine Recruit Training facility at Parris Island, South Carolina.  While they were there, they saw the process of making a marine.  Every ting from physical training in the morning to the lowering of the flag when the sun goes down.

To start out the journey for the educators they heard the speech that every new Marine hears upon arriving for training.  The speech is delivered by a Drill Instructor, or DI, and gives the qualities the Marine Corps expects from every Marine.

Here is that speech along with a look at what the recruits go through to meet the expectations from 59News Chief Videographer Phill Copney.
