BLUEFIELD -

This fall Samuel Ouedraogo will get to play basketball on a national stage.  He was selected to play in a tournament for his native country Burkina Faso in Africa.

"It's a blessing, a dream come true," Ouedraogo said.

He'll get to play alongside players he grew up admiring.  "I grew up watching them playing because most of them have been playing longer than I've been playing."

The spotlight won't only be on Sam it is also a reflection of Coach Jamaal Jackson's program at the college, and coach couldn't be happier to have him represent his team.

"It was good news for Sam to play against competition overseas and represent his country on this stage and its good for our program because I know him coming back he will be a better player after seeing this kind of competition."

Sam's hard work at BSC led up to his selection to play in the African tournament that is held this fall.

"He's our leading shot blocker, probably our strongest rebounder, he's always on the floor.  He's pretty much the heart and sole of our team, especially defensively." Coach Jackson said of Sam who had 155 total rebounds in 2012 with 14 blocks and 15 steals.

Sam will head to France in preparation for the tournament in May.
