Police ask for tips on a break-in investigation

Posted: Updated:

Tips from the community could help to solve a case of car break-ins in a Greenbrier County community.

Lewisburg Police chief Tim Stover is asking for help from the public to find a person who was caught on a surveillance camera.  Officers believe that this person may be responsible for a string a break-ins in the Rolling Hills subdivision.  The person was breaking into cars and trucks on Mayapple Trail, Circle Drive, Wake Robin Train and other streets in the neighborhood.

The suspect is taking money from unlocked vehicles.  In the surveillance video, you can see the person approach a Jeep Rubicon, check the door and move on when it is discovered to be locked.  If you look closely, you can see the suspects shadow moving in the background later as the person moves around the neighborhood.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lewisburg Police Department at 304-645-1626. As always police caution people to lock their cars at night to prevent crimes of opportunity like this.
