UPDATE: Victim and Suspect Identified in stabbing case

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the two women who were involved in a stabbing that happened in the Brenton area on Thursday evening.

The suspect, Misty Stanley, 27, of Brenton is charged with Malicious Wounding.  She is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.  No bond has been set at this time.

The victim was Tonya Morgan, 30, also of Brenton.  She was taken to Raleigh General, but her condition is not known.




59 News is told the women got into a fight over a cell phone.

Sheriff's deputies say the victim was stabbed in her stomach and wrist, hitting a major artery.  The victim is at Raleigh General Hospital.

The suspect is waiting to be arraigned in front of a magistrate.

The names of the two women are not being released at this time.

One woman is stabbed and another woman is in custody.

Deputies say the women knew each other, and that the victim is in serious condition after being stabbed twice.

This all happened in Brenton, Wyoming County, around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies tell 59 News that  this was a drug-related altercation, that happened after one woman accused the other of stealing something.

Deputies say it was not difficult to make the arrest.
