Witness speaks after rushing to the aid of Brenton stabbing victim

One woman is stabbed and another woman is in custody.  According to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department Misty Stanley, 27, of Brenton is charged with malicious wounding for allegedly stabbing Tonya Morgan, 30, also of Brenton.

Sheriff's deputies said the victim was stabbed in her stomach and wrist, hitting a major artery.  Morgan is at Raleigh General Hospital.

59 News caught up with a neighbor who rushed to the screen to help the victim.

 "I went up there and I see her bleeding and I take my shirt off and give it to her and wrapped her up in it," Randall Franklin of Brenton said.

Randall Franklin arrived to the scene just moments after Morgan was stabbed.  He pointed out hair that was pulled out during the fight, sunglasses that flew off the victims head when she was stabbed and the t-shirt he used to cover Morgan's wounds.

"I've seen her hand cut and a lot of blood it was just pouring blood," he continued.

59 News learned Morgan accused Stanley of stealing her cell phone.  This is when deputies said Stanley erupted in a fit of rage, getting a knife from her car.  According to officials, Morgan was walking away when Stanley pulled the knife out.

The knife cut a major artery on Morgan and there is no official word on her condition as of Friday evening.

Both law enforcement and witness, Randall Franklin, agree that Morgan is lucky to be alive after this brutal attack.

"I was worried about her, I was really worried about her," Brenton said.

Stanley is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.  No bond has been set at this time.
