Panel judges are assigned and mediation dates are set in the Mountain State University mass litigation.

Several lawsuits have been filed in state court against Mountain State University regarding its accreditation. A December order referred pending or subsequently filed state court cases to the mass litigation panel.

According to this order, all of these cases involve "harm caused to plaintiff as a result of Mountain State University's loss of its general accreditation, special accreditations in its nursing and nurse anesthetist programs and any other educational programs that require independent accreditation."

The most recent order set mediation dates for Aug. 26-28 in Charleston, noting the time and location will be set forth in another order.

Another May 15 order held that 19th Judicial Circuit Judge Alan Moats (Barbour and Taylor counties) is the lead presiding judge; 9th Judicial Circuit Judge Derek Swope (Mercer County) and 1st Judicial Circuit Judge James Mazzone (Ohio, Brooke and Hancock counties), presiding judges; 8th Judicial Circuit Judge Booker Stephens (McDowell County), lead resolution judge; and 25th Judicial Circuit Judge Jay Hoke (Lincoln and Boone counties) and 2nd Judicial Circuit Judge David Hummel Jr. (Marshall, Tyler and Wetzel counties), resolution judges.
