UPDATE: Details released in McDowell County murder investigation

McDowell County Sheriff's Deputies made an arrest in a murder investigation that began on Sunday, May 19.  Deputies were called to a home in the Beartown area on Sunday at around 9:20 p.m.

Donald Lee Baker, 52 of Avondale was killed is what investigators described as a "domestic related argument."  Investigators said that Baker had been shot once and was dead when the officer arrived at Bakers home.

Deputies arrested Wesley Payne, 54, of War.  He was arraigned in front of Magistrate Steve Cox and charged with First Degree Murder. Payne is being held in the McDowell County Holding Unit until bond can be set by a Circuit Court Judge.

The McDowell County Sheriff's Department is working on a Murder case in the Iaeger area.

Officials said that it happened on Sunday, May 19 and that deputies worked throughout the night and the morning.  Details are limited at this time, but 59News has learned that it happened in the area of Beartown Branch.  59News has a crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
