    An enormous effort is underway in Fayette County to stop the spread of a massive brush fire that continues to consume more land in the New River Gorge.

Bed and Breakfast innkeepers are known for their exceptional hospitality, but one Shinnston B&B owner is offering to take on the heaviest event-planning load out there — wedding days.

The Gillum House Bed and Breakfast recently announced the "Elopement Package," to keep potential brides and grooms as stress-free as possible.

"A wedding is supposed to be one of those memorable days in one's life, and we want to make that memory a happy one," Gillum House owner Kathleen Panek said. "We will work with the bride and groom to ensure every detail of their elopement is handled for them."

The North-Central West Virginia B&B will plan everything from a Methodist minister to perform the outdoor ceremony, flowers for the bride and groom, photos and a video to remember the day, wedding cake and overnight accommodations for the bride and groom.

A marriage license can be issued the day of the wedding in West Virginia, and Mountain State residents must get their licenses in the county where they live, but they can be married anywhere in the state.

Panek offers several varieties of tea and coffee, which she grinds fresh for visitors, and prepares a full breakfast that meets most specified dietary restrictions for diabetics, vegans or the lactose intolerant.

The Gillum House has been awarded five green leaves by EnvironmentallyFriendlyHotels.com for its environmentally friendly policies. The house uses natural products with little or no packaging as often as possible, along with environmentally friendly cleaning supplies. In order to be included among the site's ranks, properties must have at least 10 green attributes out of a possible 30.

Panek, a Brooke County native, was selected the Small Business Association's 2006 Home-Based Business Champion, and she was given a Champion Award by the Professional Association of Innkeepers in 2011 for starting the B&Bs for Vets Program.
