EDMOND -

Fayette County sheriff's deputies arrest a man on drug charges.

Officers with the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force, the Fayette County Sheriff's office and the Oak Hill detachment of the West Virginia State Police executed a search warrant at a home in the Edmond area of the county.  This happened Tuesday, June 11.

Fayette County sheriff Steve Kessler said the warrant was obtained after officers with the drug task force made controlled buys of prescription pills from the home earlier in the day.   Officers found 58 illicit Roxycodone pills.

John George Benger, 57, of Edmond, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and with delivery of a controlled substance.   He was sent to the Southern Regional Jail on $25,000.00 bond.

In a press release, Sheriff Kessler said, "In just the past few weeks, officers assigned to the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force have been able to arrest individuals engaged in the sale and distribution of controlled substances throughout Fayette County.   Arrests have been made of individuals in the Valley District, the New Haven District and the Plateau District.   We're making progress, but there are still numerous individuals out there who are making a living by selling drugs, primarily prescription pills.  Those individuals can rest assured that we will be making every effort to disrupt their illicit drug business."

The case is under investigation by the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force.  Anyone with information about drug activity in Fayette County is asked to contact the Sheriff's office at (304) 574-4216 or CrimeStoppers at (304) 255-7867.
