    There's a new push to help West Virginia's tourism industry after the chemical spill that caused a major water crisis in January.

Entrepreneurs and those in small business across West Virginia will have the chance to once again learn some tips and tricks from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The SBA announced recently it would offer free web-enabled, instructor-led government contracting training sessions. Topics will include financial management for government contractors and e-commerce and Internet business strategies.

The seminars are offered to eligible individuals or small businesses across the country as part of SBA's efforts to provide relevant training to the small business community. Instructors for the training are from Stover & Associates, Inc. 

"The agency received a good turnout for the workshops earlier this year," said Judy McCauley, director of SBA's West Virginia District Office. "I encourage West Virginia small businesses interested in Government contracting to take advantage of this free learning opportunity."

 

Online seminars include:

  • Financial Management for Government Contractors
    This course is targeted to address the needs of pre-applicants for the 8(a) program, firms in the developmental and transitional stages, and graduated 8(a) firms that wish to increase their understanding of managing contract related finances, maintaining compliant accounting systems, preparing for various government contracting audits, and administering federal contracts.

o   Session 1: June 17, 2013, 1:00 - 4:00 pm

o   Session 2: June 18, 2013, 1:00 - 4:00 pm

  • E-Commerce and Internet Business Strategies
    This course is primarily targeted to pre-applicants for the 8(a) program and firms in the early developmental stage of the program. Others who may benefit are firms in the transitional stage or graduated firms that have little experience in leveraging technology to improve their competitive position or wish to broaden the knowledge of personnel in key positions.

o   Session 2: June 25, 2013, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
