A hostage situation in Pineville that happened on Wednesday afternoon has been resolved.

The incident began at 2:17 p.m. when Troopers from the West Virginia State Police detachment in Jesse and the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department were called to Charlie's Pharmacy on Main Street in Pineville.  There was a report of a person who was waving a handgun inside the business.

Vickie Acord, 40, of Jesse had taken an employee of the pharmacy hostage according to a release from the State Police.  Acord was demanding pain medication.  That began a two-hour stand off with police.  The incident ended when Acord walked out of the backroom and gave herself up.  She was arrested and charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of armed robbery.

Witness Jason Maynor said he watched the whole situation transpire. "She tells her get all the narcotics and bring them with her, takes her in the bathroom with her and starts eating them and snorting them and whatever else... holding the woman hostage," he said.

Acord were arraigned in front of a Wyoming County magistrate.  She is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.
