Carpet Showcase Flooring Center put  Mohawk's SmartStrand carpet to the test with a "License to Spill" Carpet Showdown held at the Wheeling Feeling Chili Cook-Off June 1, and the consumer was up to the challenge.

Chili Cook-Off attendees were invited to spill everything from Ketchup and Kool-Aid to bleach and soy sauce on SmartStrand carpet to see if it would come clean with just water.

"Consumers were amazed when they saw for their own eyes how remarkable this carpet truly is," said Christie Contraguerro, vice president of sales and marketing. "An attendee even commented that she got chills after watching bleach being poured onto Smartstrand carpet with no effect. We knew that kids would love making a mess but we were pleasantly surprised to find that adults had just as much fun."

Carpet Showcase Flooring Center also held a successful bake sale during the License to Spill event.  In addition, during the month of June Carpet Showcase Flooring Center has donated all proceeds from the sale of Mohawk Floorscapes Essentials line of cleaning products to the United Way.

"We are proud to announce that through those sales we are donating $500 to the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley," Contraguerro said.

The business will present a check to the United Way at 10 a.m. July 8 at the showroom located at 3527 Jacob St., Wheeling.
