A Moundsville business will close next month after 15 years of operations.

TeleTech announced it would close its Marshall County service delivery center Sept. 20. The site opened in May 1998.

Employees were told that "due to a decline in call volumes, streamlined processes, and changing business needs of our clients, we will cease operations," according to an email from spokeswoman Jeanna Blatt.

TeleTech also announced it would "work with employees throughout the transition period," and will provide separation pay and employment assistance to eligible employees. Employees will be eligible for assistance that will include preferential treatment when applying for other jobs within TeleTech along with resume writing classes.

When TeleTech celebrated its 10th anniversary in Moundsville in 2008, the company said the site was one of its largest in North America, growing from "a handful of associates 10 years ago to almost 500 today."

TeleTech had been selected one of WorkForce West Virginia's Oustanding Employers.

Marshall County Chamber of Commerce President Dave Knuth said in a 2008 news release from TeleTech that it had become "one of the largest employers in Marshall County."

"No other business in Marshall County has shown more community support and spirit than TeleTech," Knuth said in that 2008 news release.
