Charleston's federal courthouse is now featuring works from a Putnam County law firm duo's private collection.

The exhibit, which is part of the Judiciary Fine Arts Program, displays 40 works, including those from bigger galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia and New York.

The collection also includes works that are from local galleries, such as The Art Store and the Callen McJunkin Gallery.

Harvey Peyton and Jennifer Peyton, from the Peyton Law Firm, have collected these pieces for 20 years. Their collection will be on display through the end of September.

New Deal art makes up a large part of the show, according to a news release from the judiciary. This section includes work done as part of the New Deal Federal Art Project as well as later works by artists such as Charles White and Jacob Lawrence, who got their starts during the Depression in federally-funded arts programs.

Anyone interested in a guided walk-through of this exhibit may contact the Peyton Law Firm at 304-755-5556.
