Lewisburg Police Officers are investigating a fatal accident that happened on Route 219.

The accident happened at 8:30 a.m. on Monday where Route 219 intersects with Holt Lane.  Officers said the Carol Sue Hinkle, 63, of Fairlea was going south on Route 219 when officers said she was hit head-on by a van driven by Douglas MacArthur Meadows, 71, of Ballard.  A third car, driven by Leslie Nicole Lagowski, 26, of Morgantown, was also involved in the accident.  Lagowski was traveling behind Ms. Hinkle when the accident happened.

All three people were taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.  Carol Hinkle died of her injuries, Meadows and Lagowski were treated for minor injuries.  Police said that charges are going to be filed in the case, which is still under investigation.  The Greenbrier County Sheriff's Office accident reconstruction team is assisting the Lewisburg Police Department.


A crash that happened just outside of Lewisburg on Monday morning sends two people to the hospital.

Dispatchers with the Greenbrier County Emergency Management office told 59News that three cars were involved in the accident.  It happened around 9 a.m. on Route 219 south.  Police told 59News that two people were taken to the hospital.  The extent of their injuries and their names have not been released.
