Aleris employees who work at the company's aluminum materials recycling facility at the Tyler County community of Friendly were recognized recently for their safety record.

The plant, which employs about 65 people, went 455 days without a recordable injury.

The Friendly facility has been in operation since 1998. The plant is a recycling facility that includes melting and milling operations for secondary aluminum materials.

"It is with great pleasure to be part of such an engaged workforce.  The team achieved this exceptional safety performance while also setting new production records on both our furnace and mill.  I am confident that our team will remain focused on improvements in safety as well as productivity," plant manager Jeff Knowlton said in a news release.

Aleris is a privately held company dealing in aluminum rolled products and extrusions, aluminum recycling and specification alloy production. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Aleris operates more than 40 production facilities in North America, Europe and Asia.
