WELCH -

An accident involving coal truck traveling on Route 52 lead to the road being closed on Monday afternoon.

The truck was headed south on Route 52 in Welch when its trailer snapped off and spilled coal in the northbound lane.  The coal buried the tires of a water delivery truck.

Officials told 59News that a tire blew out on the trailer, that caused the king pin, which attaches the trailer to the cab, to break and the trailer rolled over. Crews from the Welch Volunteer Fire Department and deputies with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office were on scene. There was no one injured in the accident.
