The Department of Veterans Affairs will bring a new mobile health clinic and a tele-health clinic to Mercer County.

The clinics will help the increasing veterans population in the area who need access to mental health and other medical services.

The tele-health clinic is expected to open this fall, announced Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Congressman Nick Rahall.

An extension of the Beckley VA Medical Center, the mobile health clinic will have two exam rooms, a waiting area, restroom and it will have access to electronic records through satellite technology.

The mobile clinic typically takes about six to eight months to deliver, the news release states.

The tele-health facility will provide tele-mental health services and other services such as tele-dermatology, gynecology, general surgery and weight management.

Rockefeller, Manchin and Rahall worked with the VA, the Beckley VA Medical Center and local veterans to get approval of these clinics.
