A long-time fixture in both the legal and Putnam County communities will be remembered with a new program.

The Putnam County Youth Reporting Center, located on Winfield Road in Winfield, will be named the O.C. Spaulding Training Center, after the former judge.

A ceremony dedicating the facility is scheduled at 1 p.m. July 18.

The training program will be housed within the youth day report center, and it will provide daily education for students who have been expelled from their schools. Students must be deemed "delinquent" by a court and ordered to the training center by a judge.

The school board will provide teachers and meals through a memorandum of understanding between the Putnam County Board of Education and the state Division of Juvenile Services. DJS will provide the space, computers, security and group therapy to manage substance abuse, anger management, communication skills and life skills.
