BECKLEY -

A beach style cheer camp at the YMCA of Southern West Virginia is going on this week.

The Y teamed up with Cheer Magic, LLC for the camp which runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Wednesday.

The camp is open to youth ages 6 through 14.  Cheer camp participants will focus on technique for motion, floor entrances, sidelines, dance, step and stomp cheers, a floor routine and pool practice.  The camp will end with a performance for family and friends on Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m.

Marcy Godfrey and Angela Keffer, co-owners of Cheer Magic, are directing the camp at the Y.  Godfrey is a cheer choreographer, cheer music specialist and former Beckley-Stratton Middle SChool cheerleading coach.  Keffer is also a cheer choreographer as well as a former West Virginia University cheerleader and former Oak Hill High School cheerleading coach.

The cost for the three day camp is $100 and includes a camp shirt, lunch and awards.

Registration is underway, and forms are available at the YMCA of Southern West Virginia and on the Y's web site, www.ymcaswv.com.   The pre-registration deadline is Friday, July 19.
