West Virginia Wesleyan College will now be urging students to "Find Your Voice," as part of its recently revealed new logo and tagline.

The school introduced the revamps at a news conference July 24. The new look came after a study by a marketing committee made up of members of the campus community.

Director of Admission John Waltz oversaw the work of the committee, which will continue to work on the school's website design and how the college uses social media.

"The marketing committee truly prioritized student input to drive all of these decisions," Waltz said in a news release. "I am proud of my colleagues for an amazing process as they removed their own aesthetic, collaborated as a team and used survey and focus group data to drive all the choices."

West Virginia Wesleyan's coordinator of outreach in the Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development, Katie Loudin, developed the idea for the tagline, "Find Your Voice," after speaking with her husband about the school's essence.

"I thought Wesleyan was a place where a student could find their voice and make a powerful impact," Loudin said. "We knew this to hold true in the classroom, on the stage, on the field, in the community, anywhere."

Marketing research students under Susan Aloi, director of the Master's in Business Administration program, performed the market study on the tagline. Once it was approved, the committee got to work on the new logo, looking for an image that would convey strong academics, extra-curricular activities and athletics.

The MBA students again surveyed the campus community, finding that most people preferred a strong "W" and a sense of the state of West Virginia as part of the logo.

The final artwork for the logo was created by designed firm Jensen Design Studio. Elements such as the Bobcat Paw will remain in place to support the new logo, according to a news release from West Virginia Wesleyan, but it will be used as a supporting element.

The Office of Administration is expecting 470 students for the next incoming class, which would be the largest class in 10 years. The Wesleyan Society, a leadership giving circle of donations of $1,000 and greater, showed a record-setting total of donations this year. The college's Office of Advancement reported an increase from $2.9 million to $4.47 million in cash and gifts-in-kind received during the past giving year, with seven new endowed scholarship funds in place and an increase in alumni donor participation.
