CHARLESTON, WV -

The American Red Cross West Virginia Region will offer a day-long workshop about Red Cross curriculum for educators.

The "Exploring Humanitarian Law Educator Workshop," will be offered from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Charleston Civic Center, and it is offered free of charge.

According to the Red Cross, the workshop is meant to serve as a flexible toolkit of resources that can give educators materials to help students understand how conflicts, both at home and abroad, may intersect with the rights and protections of those who are impacted. The workshop also aims at helping students connect current events and real-life questions to the classroom, linking news accounts, photos and letters to the rules of conflict and their effects on human life and dignity.

The workshop is not limited to educators. Participants could include youth program leaders, community college instructors, military partners, church or Scout mentors and anyone with an interest in an engaging, relevant, free curriculum to help students explore social and humanitarian issues.
