Shady Spring looks to rebuild

Posted: Updated:

It's officially football season, and that means two-a-days.

"First day of practice is always a good day, you wait and work for this moment, and now it's here," said Shady Spring's head coach Vince Culicerto.

It was a day coaches and players have been waiting for, and a new year, means new faces.  The Tigers lost many seniors to graduation, but the new seniors Tyler Hanson and Parker Unroe's mentality coming into the 2013 season is to rebuild.

"It's going to be difficult, it's a difficult change, we have a lot of key players that are gone from last year," said Hanson.

Unroe added, "It's the ‘next man up' mentality.  You know, we lost a lot of good seniors last year, but we got a lot of good guys coming up playing for us this year."

Coach Culicerto didn't single anyone out to fill these voids, but rather put the responsibility on the team as a whole.

"We're going to start from scratch, and we're going to fill them in," said Culicerto.

While the team prepares for their opener against Princeton August 30th, the seniors can't help but look ahead to get revenge on a team that ended their season with 65-34 loss.

When asked who they were looking forward to on their schedule, Unroe did not hesitate.

"Musselman.  That's the team we all want to play, after last year and how it ended for our seniors last year, we want to come back and repay them."
