Tiffani Webb of Culloden received a Congressional Award Silver Medal from U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va.

The award was created in a public-private partnership through Congress, the highest honor Congress has for America's youth, to promote and recognize achievement, initiative and service in young Americans.

"Tiffany is truly an outstanding recipient of the Congressional Award's Silver Medal," Rahall said in a news release. "Volunteering her time to serve others is a hallmark of West Virginians and certainly one great example of those upon whom our country's future depends."

The program is fully funded by charitable contributions. Participants must be between the ages of 14 and 23 to be eligible for the awards, and participants must set and then achieve individual goals in four program areas: voluntary public service; personal development; physical fitness; and expedition/exploration.

Webb devoted more than 260 cumulative voluntary public service hours, volunteered as part of a book drive to benefit pediatric patients, used media to spotlight community organizations and also attended American Legion Girls State to learn more about leadership and citizenship participation.
