Meadow Bridge Football- 4th times a charm?

Posted: Updated:

Meadow Bridge High School football went to the playoffs 3 years in a row under head coach Larry McClintic.

A strong 8-2 2012 regular season ended in a disappointing loss to Greenbrier West in the post-season. But, with a roster only 5 graduated seniors short of last years team he is positive.

"We have a very strong nucleus coming back from last year, lot of kids with a lot of playing experience so we are ahead of the grade compared to where we were last year," he said.

The players agree.

"I think we have a pretty good team this year and we should be better than last year," said senior tackle Kyle Killen.

The Wildcats are close-knit. Familiarity with each other and respect for each other leads to a strong comradery.

Senior tailback Jacob Parker said, "They're fun to play with, smart, strong, you can't get any better players, they're like my brothers."

The family mentality doesn't stop with the players. This year marks Coach McClintic's 45th year coaching Meadow Bridge.

His dedication to the game is something his players appreciate and admire.

"He likes to work hard and get the job done," said Killen.

Parker added, "Oh, he's determined. He wants another championship that's for sure."

For the Wildcats, a championship may not be out of reach.
