Midland Trail Football Preview- playoff hopes early

FAYETTE COUNTY -

In 2012 the Patriots had a winning record but fell just short of making the playoffs.

"We let a couple games slip away that we shouldn't have, give credit to those teams though they did what they needed to do to win, so unfortunately we didn't make it," said head coach Joe Dean.

Midland Trail lost many key players from that season. Now, the ones that return are hungry to make the cut to a post season.

"Makes me want to win every game and make it all the way," said senior Austin Burdette.

Dallas Miller another standout senior added, "get everybody ready to go, no quitting."

With so many experienced players graduated Coach Dean knows getting back to where they were last year will take some work.

"We're still very young, we lost some really good seniors from last year that did a great job, we went 6 and 4. This year we hope to build on that," said Dean.

The rising seniors are ready to embrace their new role and know exactly what to tell the underclassmen.

"Step it up, keep going, don't quit. Quitters never make anything," said Evan O'Dell.

Though last years team just missed achieving their goal of making the playoffs, Coach says this year is their time.

"We have to build on it, it's been 4 years since we've been to the playoffs and we need to go back," he said.

The road to a post season will not be easy, but the Patriots are ready to fight.
