HUNTINGTON – AMP Gymnastics Center, which offers instruction in gymnastics, cheerleading and dance, is moving to the commercial area of the city's KineticPark, located at the West Virginia 10 interchange of Interstate 64.

The commercial area is located on the lower level of the business park and already is home to a Bob Evans restaurant, a Marriott Townsuites hotel, a Hampton Inn and Goldy's Auto, a dealership for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram trucks. The primary tenant on the park's upper level, which is reserved for technology-based businesses and professional offices, is an Amazon.com customer service center.

Kinetic Park is a project of the Huntington Municipal Development Authority, which unanimously voted to sell AMP Gymnastics a 2.7-acre parcel for $400,000.

The property is located adjacent to Goldy's Auto.

According to Tom Bell, HMDA executive director, the sale leaves only a one-acre parcel of land left available on the park's lower level. About 12 acres remain available on the upper level, Bell said.

Developer Dave Coughenour said he will build a 19,900-square foot building for ANP Gymnastics. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion of the project seen for next summer. Coughenour said the new gym will provide 15 jobs, at least four or five of which will be full-time positions.

AMP Gymnastics opened last January in a former warehouse at 215 Hal Greer Blvd. Coughenour said the growing business needed to move, but it wanted to stay in the city of Huntington. Positioned just off I-64, KineticPark promises to be an ideal location, he said.

Three Huntington couples own AMP Gymnastics: Coughenour and his wife Amy, David and Jill Tarter, and Robert and Sheri Duncan.
