Twin brothers to lead Fayetteville

Posted: Updated:
FAYETTE COUNTY -

At Fayetteville High school inexperience and injuries led to an 0-10 2012 season. This year the story looks a little different for the Pirates.

"That's the first time in school history of Fayetteville high school that we didn't win a game and it was kind of an embarrassment to the kids, and they want to get things turned around so they've been working real hard," said head coach Frank Spangler.

The Pirates last game of their winless season was November 2nd last year. After a weekend of rest, the team was right back at it.

"They've been lifting since November 5th of last year, and they've been in the weight room everyday and it's really paid off," he added.

Coach Spangler has a lot of experience coming back, among them are twin brothers.

"The Pullen twins, River and Hunter, they've been 4 year starters and they're the strongest they've ever been."

Hunter is ready to take on his senior role.

"I'm excited to have a better team and I'm excited to be a leader and help these kids out," said Pullens.

The twins have played together for over 12 years and entering their last season together on the field, they couldn't be more excited.

There's no doubt Fayetteville will come out swinging with a chip on their shoulder.

The Pirates will face some tough competition early as they open their season against defending state champions Wahama.
