SALEM (AP) — One dam in Salem has been repaired and the town is seeking a state permit to fix another one.

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection ordered the repairs to the Upper Dog Run Dam and the Lower Dog Run Dam. The DEP said that the dams weren't in compliance with state regulations.

Town manager Joe Davis tells The Exponent Telegram that Stonegate Construction completed repairs to the Upper Dog Run Dam last week. The project cost $60,000.

Engineering bids for repairing the Lower Dog Run Dam will be considered this week. That project is expected to cost about $400,000.

The projects are being paid for with revenue from the town's sale of water to Antero Resources.
